Other nominees included Meshuggah for "obZen," Millencolin for "Machine 15," Opeth for "Watershed," and Sabaton for "The Art of War." In Flames also received a nomination in the Best Live Act category. They lost out to garage punk band The Hives.

KISS member Ace Frehley, known as the "Spaceman" has launched a project to actually head into outer space to record music, according to metalunderground.com. The Ace To Space website has issued the following statement:
